Agent In Old Lace

Since working at CFI I have acquainted myself with some of the blogs and websites of our authors, and I have to admit that Tristi Pinkston's is one of my favourites. Each time I go to check in and read an article or review, I am either smiling from ear to ear or laughing out loud! Fortunately her disarming sense of humour has not been confined to the realm of blogging –she has recently published a romantic suspense story 'Agent in Old Lace', that will be sure to tickle your funny bone. This lighthearted adventure will have you guessing and keep you smiling, with a few surprises in the end.

To Die in Kanab

To Die in Kanab by author Jack Nelson, is a compelling piece of fiction that takes us to the rugged outback of Southern Utah. When a Hollywood movie investor is killed in the quite town of Kanab; Kane County Sheriff Jared Buck is thrust into a murder investigation that on the surface seems unsolvable.
Not everyone in the quiet town welcomes the idea of a movie about the mysterious 1934 disappearance of Hollywood poet and artist Everett Ruess, and Sheriff Buck finds himself questioning many of the townsfolk as possible suspects in the case. When his local investigation leads to nothing but dead ends, he turns to newpaper reporter Paul Crichlow in San Francisco and the two of them using wit, instincts and pereverance, are able to unveil the truth and bring in the guilty.

A well written story with interesting plot, believable characters and an engaging writing style; To Die in Kanab will suck you in and have you turning pages until the mystery is solved.

As a side note: The real mystery of the 1934 disappearance of Everett Ruess has recently been solved. Check out the National Geographic Adventurer Article here.

It's ALL About Him- How to Identify and Avoid the Narcissist Male Before You Get Hurt

Lisa E Scott has done a terrific job educating her audience about male narcissism, and although it does exist in females- men make up the majority of the narcissist pool.

Before I read the book I had no idea it was an actual psychological disorder. I just thought that there were a group of men who were arrogant so-and-so's who delighted in the attention of their female counterparts. Boy, did I have a lot to learn!
She intertwines research from Sam Vaknin PhD, who is an expert in the field on NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), with her own personal experiences. It makes for very interesting and enlightening reading for anyone who wants to know why for certain men -It's ALL about Him.

Going Against my Feminine Grain

I only picked this book up because the author Steve Alten was going to speak at a Conference I was organizing; I had never before read anything in this genre, but boy after the first couple of chapters, I found myself wanting to read to the very end! It was interesting, entertaining and educational. I found myself on the internet looking up all the middle east locations that were mentioned in the text and I was fascintated to learn about the operations of the House of Saud. Even if you don't agree with the author's political slant, the content in this book was definitely food for thought.
