A Sisterhood of Strength

It took this book "A Sisterhood of Strength" by author Diony George to resurrect my reading corner--and that's saying a lot.
A Sister hood of Strength is a collection of inspiring true stories of Relief Society sisters around the world giving and receiving service in the name of selfless love. Each true story is followed by a quote from scripture or from the inspired words of ecclesiastical leaders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
It is a testament to me of the power of God's love in the lives of women and how that love, "the pure love of Christ", transcends barriers, uniting women around the world as a "worldwide circle of sisters.”
It truly is miraculous to see sisters give hours of service over a period of months to a stranger for no compensation. Why would they do such a thing? Most of you reading this will know the answer. These sisters volunteer out of the goodness of their hearts, they truly love their fellow man (or as in this case 'sister") This example is one of many experiences shared in this book. Each act of service is motivated by love--really. In the world we live in today, that truly is a miracle.
In the words of Mary Ellen Smoot, former General Relief Society President:

“One person can make a difference. Each one of you
has unique gifts. Use your gifts to serve others. As we
walk in His light, we become women of courage and
conviction. We become women of vision, women of
destiny, and women of eternal value. We are a  "worldwide circle of sisters.”
